As a professional dog trainer and canine behavior therapist, I have been told I am a rarity in my field. I am one that has a love for both dogs (all critters really) and people. Ron, who was my high school sweetheart and now husband of 30 years, and I discovered the I 70 corridor during our quest for quieter, simpler living in our empty nesting years. I love this community and am happy to serve it. I have made so many great friends and acquaintances. For an added bonus, the commute is always a quiet scenic drive, or sometimes a stroll in a beautiful country atmosphere.Continue Reading

A Tale of Two Dogs
Being a fan of puns, I was think of titling this “A Tail of Two Dogs”…but after my horrible “remiss” versus “amiss” in yesterday’s post…I figured…maybe not. 🙂
Meet Gloria and Bear:
Can you guess which is which…and which one is 13 years old and which is just a few months? 🙂
Speaking of Being Remiss…
Between work, buying a house, and moving into the house I never officially announced the Strasburg Rocks! weather station and weather webcam. You can check them out via the links on our Weather, Conditions, & Webcam page.
Additionally, today we implemented free advertisements on our site (starting with a couple businesses we highly recommend). Interested in having yours show up? You can submit one here.Continue Reading
Pauls Homes & Ron Morse
Although I have to go back to unpacking (time to brave the 7 year-old’s room), I wanted to take time to review Pauls Homes and their local representative, Ron Morse. The image you see here is the home we just moved into after closing a couple week back.
Also today Strasburg Rocks! introduces its rating system, zero to five bulls.
Before we get to the punch line (just how many bulls do Ron and Pauls Homes get?), here is our review in the form of an e-mail sent to Paul’s boss earlier today:Continue Reading
Less than One Week (Praise God)
This posts appears on two of my blogs, Strasburg.Rocks and Traditores. It will seem a bit odd on the former…but it speaks to the intersection of both in the form of the purchase of property in the friendly, small town of Strasburg, Colorado.
Although I am continually thankful to the Lord, I hesitate to make certain statements because they can be presumptuous. For instance, if when you have an unexpected bill you can’t afford just enough money shows up, is it fair to say, “The Lord sent the $$$?” I mean beyond the general providence of God…did He really personally ensure you received that cash? Sure, at a minimum, He didn’t prevent it from showing up…but did the Most High specifically fill the expense versus income gap?
Now, I am not questioning whether you should thank God in cases like that. You should. I am questioning whether it is presumptuous to say The Almighty divinely stepped into your timeline and changed something.
And with that rather lengthy preamble I humbly suggest that Michelle and I are about to own…and Augie is about to live with us in…
…a house that the Lord has personally provided.
How do I know? Well…Continue Reading
Mugs and Business Cards Are Here!
My beautiful wife Michelle announced that a couple packages arrived today…and I excitedly opened up a package including an awesome Zazzle 15oz mug (which will be a gift to Ron from Pauls Homes) along with another containing some Strasburg Rocks! business cards.
To celebrate the occasion I also finally added some products to our store. If you aren’t as lucky as Ron and don’t get a free 15oz mug from us, you can grab one yourself by visiting our store page.
Now, shhhhh…Ron doesn’t know he’s going to get the mug tomorrow…so no telling! 🙂
P.S. Giving credit where credit it due…the business cards are thanks to Vistaprint, which is a tremendous place to get branded items.
Soon We’ll Be Strasburg Homeowners!
Not only did we eat at The Patio Cafe a couple times this weekend :-), but we are proud to say that we also put a contract on a house in Strasburg! As you can see, it’s still under construction (e.g. it needs to be painted and to have grass installed), but we couldn’t be more excited. Pictured here are Michelle, Augie, and Ron from Pauls Homes.Continue Reading
Good Eatin’ (The Patio Cafe)
We’ve already had a few meals in Strasburg, and two have them have been at The Patio Cafe right downtown (56471 East Colfax Avenue). Last week it was breakfast, this week lunch.
It’s been a long day…so I’m not going to try to say much more than it’s worth every $$$ you will spend there. The food is appetizing, the atmosphere is hometown-ish, and the service is both great and friendly.
I haven’t yet figured out how I will rate establishments on Strasburg Rocks!, but if it were stars I would probably give The Patio 4 out of 5.Continue Reading
