Earlier this week I posted about Augie’s birthday road-trip to Kansas. One highlight of it was a visit to the Kit Carson County Carousel…a historical marvel. Although the video (which includes the carousel’s history and it in action) was also posted, I was able to download a high quality version from Facebook and make this “official” version with higher volume and a fancy Strasburg Rocks!intro and outro from a Fiverr gig:
As is noted in the video, it costs only twenty-five cents. I can assure you it’ll be the best twenty-five cents you’ll spend. 🙂
Oh, Kit Carson County Carousel is a definite We Recommend and gets 5 out of 5 bulls…thank you Robbie for the awesome experience!

Road trip to Kansas! (Goodland, Kansas to be more specific.) Hitting the road yesterday it quickly morphed into a fun Pokémon Go-related visit to Pokéstops between here and there. Instead of reposting all the pictures here, below is my public timeline on Facebook that documents the what/when/where. 🙂
We were tuckered by the time we got home (late)…but I think birthday treks are in our future going forward. 🙂

What a great start to a beautiful day! Although normally we’d be at church on a Sunday morning, our new Strasburg church plant doesn’t start up until next Sunday…so off we went to check out some of today’s activities, starting with a delicious breakfast at the Strasburg Elementary School sponsored by the National Honor Society.
After that it was time for Mr. Ed’s Cool Classic Car Show…and this video will give you a little flavor of it:
I didn’t videotape every entry, but the gallery a bit further down will include photos of every vehicle that was there when I was.

We did end up doing a little yard sale shopping…although it was kind of late in the day for it. That was followed by the Chili Contest (sponsored by 4 Rivers Equipment) and an entertaining High Plains Music Ensemble concert (sponsored by Strasburg Veterinary Clinic and IREA). Michelle and Augie taste-tested the six entries and made their votes as I Facebook Live broadcasted most of the concert, which you can watch here:

Hello everyone…it has been a busy, busy, busy (but fun!) day already.
Up early ’cause the munchkin wanted Burger King (in Centennial) for breakfast, and we had to line up for the parade at 8:30. Translation: Awake before 6AM. My proof:

Either way…because, as Cubmaster for Strasburg Pack 439, I was marching in the parade…it meant I had to take all my photos and videos before or early-on (as I walked toward the back where we were placed). While we were waiting, I really liked this amazing cheer done for Strasburg Rocks! viewers by the Strasburg Parks Cheerleading Camp:
“We are Strasburg!” Well, at least Sparta and Strasburg both start with an “S”! 🙂 The girls did great, didn’t they?!

I started vacation last night, so we are trying to make the most family time. Mom had to run out to get something for Cub Scout Pack 439‘s float (see it in tomorrow’s Strasburg Home Town Days parade)…and Augie wanted to go to Taco Bell for breakfast.
So, we climbed in the car…and even though it is a hybrid…we do need to get gas sooner or later. That’s where we got to see flags that that same Pack 439 put up:
Now, I can’t provide a review because I’m not a coffee drinker, but I am glad to say that Strasburg Express Coffee Shop officially opened this morning! (I believe someone said it was formally Becca’s Espresso?) Either way, just quickly snapping some pictures with my iPhone, it looks like it’ll be a nice, open atmosphere to read a newspaper, surf the net, or catch Pokémon…all while imbibing your favorite form of caffeine! 🙂
I’ll post the pictures below…it does have more than just coffee…so you should check out Strasburg’s newest business! (Open 6:00-2:00 Monday through Friday and 7:00-1:00 on Saturday…closed Sundays.)

(These are from today, just before we got home from our anniversary lunch…)
Although I should be able to do basic maintenance on my own bicycle, space and time constraints meant I wanted to find someone else to do it and a friend recommended Andrew at Bring the Bike Ltd.  I am glad she did.
I am just back from an anniversary dinner and am looking forward to an afternoon bike ride on my freshly cleaned and tuned two-wheel transportation.  Andrew did a bang-up job for a great price, and I know I’ll be a repeat customer.  I am not sure of everything he does, but I do know it includes tuning and repairing! 🙂
And he’s a really nice guy on top of it!

Once again work has forced to stay on a horrible island, in a horrible hotel, with a horrible view from my horribly high room:

When I went out for dinner, Augie asked if I could use Pokémon Go and get him some great water Pokémon. For some reason it’s a bit harder to find water Pokémon in Strasburg.
You know, in a place with absolutely no permanent water. Go figure. 🙂
So, after dinner I fired up Pokémon Go and, right from get-go, they were all over the place. Below are pictures of each and every Pokémon I caught for him, minus the first one at the surf shop my friend manages (something like a Pidgeotto). He also had an egg hatch, got an award, and went from a level 12 to a 13! (If the same Pokémon exists twice in the gallery…then it means I caught more than one…)
Oh, and all kinds of stuff gathered from the myriad Poké Stops between the place I ate and my hotel!
Now, it’s 1:15AM my body’s time (just landed earlier today…well, yesterday for my body)…so to all a good night!

P.P.S. I really have to stop turning the game on. Since I finished (level up to 13 was that picture), I’ve gotten three Pokémon he didn’t have before and hatched another egg. ‘Night all!
