Yeah, I know I haven’t posted on this site enough. Sorry. Will get better. 🙂
However, I have also not been on my bike enough, but did today. Join me for a 4K Insta360 Hyperlapse ride!
Celebrating Strasburg, Colorado, a small, friendly town in the plains east of Denver...

I have never enjoyed a walk with my wife as much as I did today’s… 🙂
Riding by their irrigation on my bicycle a couple times, I asked for and got permission from Burchfield Farms to fly over their land. Although the water wasn’t on high, I think it’s still a pretty cool video. But first, a 180 degree panorama across the street from them:
Okay, now for the video 🙂
First use of my DJI Mavic Air 2 to follow me on the bicycle…thus why I stop a couple times to make sure it wouldn’t crash into wires, telephone poles, etc. 🙂
Also, the batteries usually last 20-30 minutes, so I have to check on why they don’t appear to have been fully charged. Hmmm…
Here is your chance to join me on a complete bicycle ride, along with my usual near-the-end-of-ride Strasburg Convenience Store visit.
Recorded with a GoPro HERO8 Black, and originally live streamed. Kudos to GoPro (for the camera and their app that streamed it so long) and Restream.io (which allowed me to stream to multiple places at once).
I was busy with a bunch ‘o other stuff today, but wanted to get the drone out at least for a quick flight. I wanted to go all the way to the church in the distance, but when a car went down the back road, I figured it best to wait until I got a better lay of the land.

Strasburg won’t let the Coronavirus get in the way of us celebrating our awesome 2020 graduates!
Congratulations Strasburg Seniors! Pat yourselves on the back!
We were lucky enough to have this start in our neighborhood. Some cool cars were involved in the parade. 🙂
To all the 2020 graduates…in Strasburg and elsewhere…I know this was a suboptimal way to end your secondary education…but you made it.
Great work!

Bad news:
I wasn’t looking right in the second flight tonight. Crash. Boom. Bang.
Good news:
After popping a couple pieces back and getting the gimbal unstuck, it flew again (as proven from the last flight).
Even better news:
I purchased DJI Care Refresh, so I’ll send it in and get a replacement. 🙂
The videos use DJI’s Quickshot feature (in this case, one where you identify an object, and it flies around it).
Boy do I love my DJI Mavic Air 2…oh, and how easy DJI made it to set-up the replacement!
Okay, I’m sold. Well, I was sold before, since I already bought the DJI Mavic Air 2. 🙂
I never flew a drone before today, and this is like the second or third flight…once I got to play with it after work and dinner.
Initially I just wanted to record the sundown (since we have houses blocking our western view)…but it quickly became clear that wouldn’t be an exciting video…so then I tested moving it around, going higher, etc.
Probably still mostly a practice video, but still kind of cool…if I do say so myself. 🙂
Update: Or the second day:
It was really windy, so my bravery with the drone was reduced. What is amazing is that the jerkiness here and there is all on me as I’m trying things. The DJI handles the video in a way that strong wind is imperceptible.
Of course, it has its limits. 🙂
What a beautiful fall day! Which means it was a great time to bring the RC car, with a GoPro on top, to the Strasburg Community Park. Key times for crashes:
P.S. The slow-motion isn’t near as smooth as I wish. I thought I was recording at 1080 and 240FPS, but it was 2.7K and 30FPS.
But, it is what it is, and still fun. 🙂
So, admit it, you’ve always wondered what a car feels like in a car wash.
🙂
Well, here is your chance to find out! Â Last night, around sundown, I put my GoPro HERO6 Black in a waterproof case, hooked it to the front of The Orangutan (what we call our VW Tiguan), and gave The Orangutan a much needed bath.
Now, I’m not saying I want to go through the car wash outside of a car, but it didn’t seem to frightening. 🙂
P.S. The car wash is brushless and does pretty well. The full works costs $15.
P.P.S. Hat tip to the Mrs. for the idea of GoPro’ing a car wash.
My oldest son is in down for a few days, so he an I beat the heat today by heading for a bicycle ride before the temperatures got into the 90s.
Yes, he made dad feel old. (I used to “pull” him along on bicycle rides back in New Hampshire. No longer.)
Either way, here’s a quick couple minute version of the ride. (GoPro Time Lapse at 30x.)
Happy Monday!

I just returned from another bicycle ride (and a yummy Byers General Store meatball sub midway). As I was cleaning up the remains of my lunch, I received a storm warning for Strasburg.
Now, the adult thing to do would have been to wait it out. Instead I unpacked the GoPro, climbed on my bicycle, and started videotaping in case I got caught in dope storm. (I have been told that “dope” is the new “rad.”)
I got a little rain on me at the end, but, alas, nothing worthy of showing you the video. Here’s a snapshot of the south, though, as I stopped to guzzle some water…
Although it’s a little deep into the celebrations to begin a running Strasburg Hometown Days post…better late than never, right?! Updates will be added on top (right under this introductory paragraph).
From yesterday, here is a quick bicycle Time Warp video from our home in Strasburg to the Byers General Store:
Byers General Store has awesome food! 🙂
(And great people too…)
This is the second trip where I enjoyed a meatball sub as my halfway reward.
Hot day. Hovering around 90 degrees the whole time. Beautiful otherwise.
This was filmed using the GoPro HERO7 Black’s Time Warp feature at 15x.

Climb on your bicycles folks! The world is waiting and it’s a lot less boring than jogging. 🙂
Oh, and please be sure to check out our new site, GoPro Monster (https://gopro.monster).
Ride on!
