My oldest son is in down for a few days, so he an I beat the heat today by heading for a bicycle ride before the temperatures got into the 90s.
Yes, he made dad feel old. (I used to “pull” him along on bicycle rides back in New Hampshire. No longer.)
Either way, here’s a quick couple minute version of the ride. (GoPro Time Lapse at 30x.)

I just returned from another bicycle ride (and a yummy Byers General Store meatball sub midway). As I was cleaning up the remains of my lunch, I received a storm warning for Strasburg.
Now, the adult thing to do would have been to wait it out. Instead I unpacked the GoPro, climbed on my bicycle, and started videotaping in case I got caught in dope storm. (I have been told that “dope” is the new “rad.”)
I got a little rain on me at the end, but, alas, nothing worthy of showing you the video. Here’s a snapshot of the south, though, as I stopped to guzzle some water…
Although it’s a little deep into the celebrations to begin a running Strasburg Hometown Days post…better late than never, right?! Updates will be added on top (right under this introductory paragraph).

This is the second trip where I enjoyed a meatball sub as my halfway reward.
Hot day. Hovering around 90 degrees the whole time. Beautiful otherwise.

We previously had the Inaugural Chewie Bicycle Cam, but this is the Inaugural Chewie Cam (no “Bicycle”) thanks to a GoPro dog harness we purchased from…of all places…Circuit City (on eBay). Yes, that Circuit City. 🙂
Here is your chance to see life from a dog’s perspective. This is a short neighborhood work in Coyote Ridge:
Chewie is a half Standard Poodle, half Australian Shepherd (Aussi-doodle?) He’s a medium/large dog, coming in around 65 pounds…and full of life and love. 🙂
Although he’s also a brat and barks when he doesn’t get what he wants. Nobody is perfect, right?

A week+ ago, my body was tortured into better shape by camping six days with Bennett Boy Scout Troop 30, so I am trying to keep my exercise up so as not to lose it. On Monday I rode back-and-forth from the General Store in Byers…and today it was McDonald’s in Bennett. This is a 15x Time Warp video from my GoPro HERO7 Black.
Perfect day…except…the wind was horrible, especially on the way out. I had to downshift for even downhill grades. Ugh. 🙂
But, McDonald’s French Fries make up for almost anything. 🙂
Yesterday, our Lucky Dog bicycle pet bicycle trailer arrived, and although it was late by the time I got home and had dinner, I had to try it out.
You are rewarded, however, by being able to watch the Inaugural Chewie Bicycle Cam!:
Please zoom to 6 minutes in, because initially Chewie tried to climb out…so it isn’t until then I opened up the trailer so you can see him in all his glory and happiness. 🙂
I was very impressed about how easy the carrier was to assemble, how sturdy it is, and its features (e.g. it can also be used as a walker). It’s also inexpensive.

Finally, a shout out to LIVE4 GoPro, which allowed me to stream this live on the Strasburg Rocks! Facebook last night.
As I continue to try out the features of my GoPro HERO7 Black, here is an example of a Time Lapse Video (.5 seconds between images and 30 FPS). It was a very calm night…with stationary clouds. If you are able to watch it at full resolution, it’ll be 4K:
It’s worth viewing full screen as long as your bandwidth allows you to see HD+.
Later this week I figure I’ll try again, using Time Lapse Photos instead (allowing more control: e.g. locking the exposure so it gets darker at the end).
In either case, a beautiful, serene sunset in our awesome little town. 🙂

I’ll be away for a week at Boy Scout camp with Augie, so here are the last few bicycle rides before we leave tomorrow.
Today (when it was greater than 95º when I left):
Beautiful day…and the ride wasn’t bad. Low humidity rules! 🙂
This was Tuesday’s ride in two parts (out to the Strasburg Convenience Store and back). The “back” is in the dark. It’s not 100% clear, but you can see a cool light that makes a rider safer by putting a green LED bicycle image in front on the road.
Now, the best video from my GoPro HERO7 Black (at this point) is the GoPro Time Warp Bicycle Ride. If you are someone thinking about moving our way, you’ll see most of downtown Strasburg at the equivalent of 50 MPH. 🙂

We enter the new year with a new family member, Winifred. Augie did his research (which included creating a PowerPoint presentation) to learn about how to care for Bearded Dragons, so mom and dad allowed this beautiful girl to join our household. (A big thanks to our friend Dave, who not only originally rescued this pretty lady, but who also was kind enough to allow her to move in with us.)
BabyCenter says Winifred means friend of peace and Nameberry translates it as blessed peacemaking.
