Although it’s a little deep into the celebrations to begin a running Strasburg Hometown Days post…better late than never, right?! Updates will be added on top (right under this introductory paragraph).
GoPro Time Warp to Byers General Store
From yesterday, here is a quick bicycle Time Warp video from our home in Strasburg to the Byers General Store:
Byers General Store has awesome food! π
(And great people too…)
This is the second trip where I enjoyed a meatball sub as my halfway reward.
Hot day. Hovering around 90 degrees the whole time. Beautiful otherwise.
This was filmed using the GoPro HERO7 Black’s Time Warp feature at 15x.
The music is “My Baby Moved to Denver” by Lance Bakemeyer. Used by permission thanks to Storyblocks Audio.
Climb on your bicycles folks! The world is waiting and it’s a lot less boring than jogging. π
Oh, and please be sure to check out our new site, GoPro Monster (https://gopro.monster).
Ride on!
Inaugural Chewie Cam!
We previously had the Inaugural Chewie Bicycle Cam, but this is the Inaugural Chewie Cam (no “Bicycle”) thanks to a GoPro dog harness we purchased from…of all places…Circuit City (on eBay). Yes, that Circuit City. π
Here is your chance to see life from a dog’s perspective. This is a short neighborhood work in Coyote Ridge:
Chewie is a half Standard Poodle, half Australian Shepherd (Aussi-doodle?) He’s a medium/large dog, coming in around 65 pounds…and full of life and love. π
Although he’s also a brat and barks when he doesn’t get what he wants. Nobody is perfect, right?
Music thanks to a subscription to Storyblocks Audio (https://www.audioblocks.com/).
Sunrise Video? No. Fog Bank Rolling In? Yes!
Sure…I get up way early to provide everyone with a sunrise video of Strasburg, and…
π
Instead, you get to see a fog bank roll in and it thinning and thickening over about an hour (which is still pretty neat):
Using a GoPro HERO7 Black’s Time Lapse Video feature, 1 frame taken per second (so, this took about an hour to film).
Background music is “After Sunrise” by Adigold thanks to Envato Elements.
P.S. This is what the camera looked like after being in the fog for 60ish minutes:
Strasburg to Bennett Bicycle Ride Time Warp (15x)
A week+ ago, my body was tortured into better shape by camping six days with Bennett Boy Scout Troop 30, so I am trying to keep my exercise up so as not to lose it. On Monday I rode back-and-forth from the General Store in Byers…and today it was McDonald’s in Bennett. This is a 15x Time Warp video from my GoPro HERO7 Black.
Perfect day…except…the wind was horrible, especially on the way out. I had to downshift for even downhill grades. Ugh. π
But, McDonald’s French Fries make up for almost anything. π
Inaugural Chewie Bicycle Cam
Yesterday, our Lucky Dog bicycle pet bicycle trailer arrived, and although it was late by the time I got home and had dinner, I had to try it out.
You are rewarded, however, by being able to watch the Inaugural Chewie Bicycle Cam!:
Please zoom to 6 minutes in, because initially Chewie tried to climb out…so it isn’t until then I opened up the trailer so you can see him in all his glory and happiness. π
I was very impressed about how easy the carrier was to assemble, how sturdy it is, and its features (e.g. it can also be used as a walker). It’s also inexpensive.
If you are interested in the trailer:
- Amazon (how we purchased it): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJBGA0Q/
- Directly from Discount Ramps: https://www.discountramps.com/dog-trailer/p/PT-10201/
Finally, a shout out to LIVE4 GoPro, which allowed me to stream this live on the Strasburg Rocks! Facebook last night.
July 23, 2019 Time Lapse Video
As I continue to try out the features of my GoPro HERO7 Black, here is an example of a Time Lapse Video (.5 seconds between images and 30 FPS). It was a very calm night…with stationary clouds. If you are able to watch it at full resolution, it’ll be 4K:
It’s worth viewing full screen as long as your bandwidth allows you to see HD+.
Later this week I figure I’ll try again, using Time Lapse Photos instead (allowing more control: e.g. locking the exposure so it gets darker at the end).
In either case, a beautiful, serene sunset in our awesome little town. π
P.S. Music from Bensound (“Summer”).
Byers to Strasburg Bicycle Ride GoPro Time Warp
I’m a bitΒ tuckered tonight…but I wanted to sneak this out before my day wraps up.
10x GoPro Time Warp bicycle ride from Byers to Strasburg, Colorado.
Happy Monday everybody!
A Few More Summer Bicycle Rides
I’ll be away for a week at Boy Scout camp with Augie, so here are the last few bicycle rides before we leave tomorrow.
Today (when it was greater than 95ΒΊ when I left):
Beautiful day…and the ride wasn’t bad. Low humidity rules! π
This was Tuesday’s ride in two parts (out to the Strasburg Convenience Store and back).Β The “back” is in the dark. It’s not 100% clear, but you can see a cool light that makes a rider safer by putting a green LED bicycle image in front on the road.
Now, the best video from my GoPro HERO7 Black (at this point) is the GoPro Time Warp Bicycle Ride. If you are someone thinking about moving our way, you’ll see most of downtown Strasburg at the equivalent of 50 MPH. π
GoPro Time Warp Bicycle Ride
Independence Day brought you a GoPro Time Warp scooter video. Today rewards you with a bicycle ride! π
Again at 5x speed…see a ton of downtown in less than 10 minutes. It’s like zooming through streets at 50 MPH, but without the carnage. π
Music from Bensound.
GoPro Time Warp Scooter Video
Ever wondered what it would be like to scooter from the Strasburg Convenience Store to a home in Coyote Ridge? Of course you have! π
Well, here you go:
If you are curious as to why the video rocks up and down…well, we are riding Rockboard scooters, which are propelled by rocking. (Sadly, the company appears to be out of business.)
Big thanks to Bensound for the free background music!
First Snow (2016-2017 Winter Season)
It’s probably not going to amount to much, but we do have our first snow of the new 2016-2017 winter season!:
A photo not good enough? How about a quick video? π
And…you have to admit that with snow…well…it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…so you can listen here for the best Christmas music on the planet (year-round):
If you are out in it, please drive carefully…let’s not let the first snow of the season mean you are in your first crash of the season…
Pancakes and KISS
Before I start composing my sermon for tomorrow, I wanted to post two videos. First, of all things, this first one may be our most seen post on Facebook (792 impressions and 369 views):
(The view count I mentioned above is from Facebook, not YouTube.)
The second video is an awesome display of patriotism and appreciation for our military by KISS. Ignore the “shot at Colin Kaepernick” stuff…that is a mischaracterization:
Okay, now to convert all my research into a digestible sermon…while listening to…you guessed it…KISS! π

Eastern Lightning Show (September 3, 2016)
Changing our home network set-up meant I had to tweak things to get remote access to my weather webcam again. As part of that, I saw this awesome lightning show go on and on:
‘Night all…
Peaceful Backyard Windmill
‘Night Strasburg.
